First, you DO NOT need a janitorial bond if you do not own a cleaning company. Cleaning companies are the only company that can use a janitorial bond, because that is who they were created for. See, janitorial bonds are there to cover the risk that an employee might steal something, or that a client might just accuse one of your employees of doing so. From that perspective of risk, it’s all the same.

Second, you DO NOT need a janitorial bond if you do not have employees unsupervised in a cleaning based service. This is the exact situation that they were created for, and will only cover theft under those conditions. This is where most small business owners get in trouble. They think it covers any theft, and it does not. Janitorial bonds will only cover cleaning company employee theft.
