It is more important that you make sure that the boxing club you are looking at has; multiple heavy bags; a few double-end bags; at least one speedball platform; full-length mirrors; open floor space for shadowboxing, stretching, jumping rope and doing callisthenics; medicine balls; an incline board for ab work and at least one small ring. .. Don’t be overly concerned if the boxing gym you are looking at does not have any free weights. Weightlifting can reduce flexibility and as such old school boxing discourages it.

 

Next you want to be looking for a boxing gym that offers classes. You will find no shortage of people willing to give you personal boxing training, but you are basicly hiring a personal trainer and will have to manage the costs that come with doing that.Its probably a bit of an over kill as a novice. By joining a class to learn the fundamentals of boxing it is much more social not to mention cost effective.  In a class environment you will be grouped with people who are of a similar boxing standard as you, giving you a good selection of people to both train and spa with.
