In kids soccer drills, I’m not sure if you know this but someone who’s familiar with the game of soccer knows the importance of dribbling. Dribbling refers to the skill of maneuvering the ball in the field while keeping its control. To begin with, kids are trained on this very skill of dribbling.

But how do you decide the level of its significance in the game. If you want your kids to develop dribbling skills, regular drills are the best thing to do. The kids would therefore learn the art of maneuvering the ball well. It’s the skill of dribbling while maintaining contact with the ball which lets you leave behind several opponents in the play ground.

To become a good dribbler, you need to spend time with the ball and take to heart these key fundamentals. Kids are taught the skill of using the outside of their foot in kids soccer drills. Kids will often use the face of their instep, especially in case of dribbling the ball at a fast pace.

Yet, the kids must know the art of using the interior and exterior of both their feet on way to be good dribblers. In this manner, the kids can manage the possession of the ball regardless of the pressure from the opposite team. Kids must also be taught to apply both sides of their feet similar to a hockey stick.

Youth Soccer Drills

Soccer drills for kids must ensure they touch the ball with every step taken with the ball. The ball is tapped keeping it in front while dribbling it. This has the effect of increasing the speed of dribbling while allowing kids to retain the ball.

This has the effect of eluding the defenders when they try to get close to the ball to capture it. So set out gradually and concentrate at this in the beginning when kids are practicing to ensure that they are getting a feel of the ball with every step.

Players in youth soccer drills should be taught to vary the speed. In order to overpower the opponents, the kids need not be extremely fast in dribbling the ball. Rather, put the defender to sleep for a moment and then break past the rival with great speed.

Train the kids on remaining alert with respect to the ball while in the field. When dribbling, it’s critical for the kids to be focused on the ball and also know what’s happening in the ground.

Support them in getting their weak foot better. Ensure that the soccer drills for youth consists of the practice of hitting the ball against the wall with the weak foot to effect it’s slow but steady improvement. In the spare time, kids should play about with a soccer ball. Guide the kids to just spin the ball backward and forward with the help of the weaker foot even when they are sitting. The more it is done, the more control can be maintained with the ball.
