Snowboarder Shaun White Designs Oakley Sunglasses
Oakley are renowned for working with the best athletes in the World, establishing exactly what these athletes need from their products and eyewear. Shaun White, world famous snowboarder and as close to a sporting legend as you’ll get in the winter sports world, has been with Oakley for the last decade and has now helped design the newest pair of Oakley sunglasses; the Oakley Holbrook.
Describing his own needs and recommendations for Oakley’s latest snowboarding-orientated designer sunglasses, White apparently wanted to capture the core essence of American cool; drawing influences from the 50′s and 60′s. This probably suggest why these sunglasses look a little like the Ray Ban Wayfarer, but i love those Ray Ban’s, so i for one won’t be complaining. In fact, this similarity helps the Oakley’s achieve that vintage look, fitting right int to this seasons’ trends.
The Holbrook name comes from a tiny town on Route 66 in America, a town that perfectly personifies the mixutre of glory and guts that makes up the American Dream (according to Oakley and White).
In design terms, the Holbrooks achieve their great vintage look with large, defined lenses and chunky, thick frames. The holbrooks are a great example of what Oakley have become so good at; perfectly combining fashion and functionality to create the perfect sunglasses for a certain sport. This mixture is what has made the brand so popular and can be found with any pair of Oakley sunglasses.
The Oakley Holbrooks are a great reminder of the reasons the designers have for their collaboration with athletes. Oakley have quickly become one of the biggest eyewear brands on the planet and it’s not hard to see why when you see them collaborating with the likes of Shaun White. The new Oakley Holbrook’s are a perfect choice for anyone taking to the slopes this year, or anyone just wanting to look good on the high-street this summer.
