2010 World Cup Champions Are Spain

This year World Cup was finally won by Spain. They have always been called as a great football nation who has under performed in every tournament till 2008. Two years they were crowned as European Champions and after 24 months they are now World Champions. Spanish fans, if you are reading this then send flowers online to your football team’s head quarters in Spain, they deserve it. This is a great effort from the team and all Spanish fans should be behind them enjoying this historic moment. 2010 definitely has been Spain’s year in footballing and tennis wise.

It was not a great start by Spain in their first match, where they suffered a defeat in Switzerland’s hand. But then they slowly and swiftly got back to winning the games. Spain have always been a good footballing nation with great passing and movements and now with players such as Xavi, Iniesta, Torres, Fabregas, Villa and Pique on the ball you are bound to win the championship. They finished top of their group even after losing the first game and then played Portugal at the first knock out stage. Many thought it was going to be Spain biggest match of the tournament but at that stage it was yes but they beat Portugal and moved on.

In the quarter finals they faced Paraguay. In papers Spain was tipped to beat Paraguay easily and with lots of goals but it wasn’t that easy though they eventually did beat Paraguay by 1 David Villa’s goal. They faced Germany in the semis and this was one hell of a match. Spain played neat passing with quick movements and Germans were the tournaments top scorers. Carlos Puyol of Barcelona rose above all German to give Spain the lead, the only goal in the match that won the match for Spain. In the final Spain beat Netherlands by Andres Iniesta’s brilliant goal.

This was Spain’s year so send all sorts of colourful wedding flowers, celebrity flowers to congratulate your team just make sure they are not funeral flowers.
