Midwives and what they do during a pregnancy

One of the methods of delivering a baby is using a midwife. This is usually done at the homes of the mothers.  Plus this method is usually performed naturally.Natural in the sense that no drugs is used during the delivery of the baby.  There are many women who have chosen this method for many benefits. Some examples of these benefits are that no drugs are used and that the delivery is done in the comforts of their homes. So let us discuss some of the roles that a midwife plays during a baby delivery.

So let us first define what a midwife really is.  A midwife is a person who assists women during delivery. They are usually not doctors.  But as a San Diego licensed midwife there is many other things that I know a midwife does.Naturally, they cannot do what a doctor can do but they have a lot of things they can do that can help a pregnant mother.

Of course, most of their duty is to advice and assist during the delivery. But they also give advices and assist during the whole 9 months of pregnancy. Plus they also advice and help post delivery.  So most women who are homebirth midwife San Diego have a huge job when it comes to pregnancy and delivery. Many women turn to them for advice and help.Although most of them are not nurses or doctors, the women still trust their advice.

But the biggest contribution of a midwife is done during the delivery itself. This is especially true in a homebirth setting.  Of course midwives help in hospitals. But when it comes to home birthing their responsibility grows larger. As I mentioned earlier as a San Diego midwife although not usually a doctor or nurse they do have training medically. This training will help them in case an emergency happens.

So those are some of the roles of a midwife. As we have seen, they also have a lot of responsibility when it comes to assisting mothers. But most midwives have done their jobs well. They have helped a lot of women during the many years they have been midwives. And they will continue to do so as midwifery becomes more popular to mothers in the years to come.
