What is Paintball?

Paintball is a predominantly outdoor activity, normally played in fields with wooded areas. Firing paintballs at the opposition is the primary objective of most paintballs games, with two teams fighting eachother to win the game. Paintball is played using relatively cheap paintball guns that are gas-powered, with hoppers that hold the paintballs. Players will be kitted out with their paintball gun and also provided with a boiler suit to protect their clothing from the paint when they get hit. Paintballs are made from vegetable oil and food colouring encased in a gelatin shell that explodes on impact leaving a colourful “paint” splat. Paintballs are only provided in a limited amount at the start of the day and you will have to buy additional paintballs as the day progresses to make sure you don’t run out.

There are a lot of different game types that can be played, some are all about eliminating the opposing team, others are about capturing a flag. All levels of fitness and paintball experience are catered for when it comes to the different games that can be played.

One of the most important aspects of paintball is safety. Safety googles are provided by the paintball organisers and these must be worn at all times during play. If you have been eliminated from a game, you must keep your goggles on until you have left the field of play, getting hit in the eye with a paintball can be incredibly dangerous. By not removing your goggles until you are off the field of play and in a safe area you are making your paintball gaming much safer.

Due to its ever increasing popularity, paintball is becoming a keen pastime for many enthusiasts, and with cheap paintball guns and cheap paintballs available on the internet, more and more people are choosing to buy their own guns and paintballs and are either setting up their own paintballing groups with other enthusiasts or regularly attending paintballing sites for games that are set up specifically for those that are choosing to take their paintballing to another level.
